• Connection Groups: The Power of Serving Others – Our Biblical Literacy class provides opportunities for our class members to be a part of small groups, called Connection Groups (CG’s). CG’s meet regularly outside of class for fun, fellowship, support and prayer. Our connection groups have created new friendships, deepened old friendships and made individuals feel they are an integral part of our large, diverse class.
• Know Your Class Members – The Murrays have been members of CFBC for 15 years and have attended the Lanier class since its inception. Having served as connection group leaders for 7 of those years, they currently are members of the Smith Connection Group.

• Picnic! Mark your calendar for our Annual Class Picnic on Sunday, June 7th at the home of Becky & Mark Lanier. Come right after class and spend the afternoon – we’ll have fun things to see and do for everyone: Mark’s famous train ride, badminton, volleyball, paddleboats and fishing on the pond, playground and water amusements for the kids, and pick all the blueberries and blackberries you want.
• Know Your Class Members: Jim and Dianna Brewer are the Lanier Class Outreach Coordinators. Jim is a native Houstonian. He attended Waltrip High School and graduated from U of H with a B.B.A. in Marketing. He’s been with ExxonMobile for 36 years and is now Manager of Polyolefins Warehouse Operations in the Chemicals Division… Dianna grew up in Jackson, MS and graduated with a B.S. from Mississippi State. She lived in Houston from 1974-1977, moved to London, England for 8 years, and returned to Houston in 1985. She is currently a legal secretary with Susman Godfrey, L.L.P.

• Missions - There is a missionary in all of us. Jesus said, “Go everywhere in the world and tell the Good News to everyone.” Mark 16:15. “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” Matt. 4:19.
• Know Your Class Members : Tracy and Jimmy Martin – The Martins have been married for almost six years and have been members of CFBC for eight years. Jimmy grew up in Texas City, graduating from Lamar University with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He is now the Associate Vice Chancellor of Facilities and Construction for the Lone Star College System. Tracy grew up in New Orleans and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi majoring in Interior Design with a minor in Architectural Engineering. She has been employed at Compaq/Hewlett Packard for 20 years as a licensed Interior Designer and Project Manager.

• Lanier Class Social: Movie Night! – “A Night at the Museum” – It’s time for another fun Movie Night – so make plans to bring your friends and family to watch this hilarious family comedy. It’s a great chance to meet and socialize with class members as well as a chance for Connection Groups to get together. We’ll gather at the Student Building and bring food and refreshments to share with everyone.
• Know Your Class Members: Kathleen and Tom Houser – The Housers have been happily married for 14 years and have two children. While Tom was a Landman, he met Kathleen when she worked in the Tax Office at the Nueces County Courthouse in Corpus Christi. Their daughter, Anne Marie, age 11, enjoys shopping and singing in the Kleb Middle School choir, and son Max, age 9, plays Upward basketball and enjoys creating with Lego building blocks.

• Class Party – Our much anticipated Annual Lanier Class Christmas Party will be held Friday, December 5th at the Wyndehaven Terrace at 7:00 p.m.
  
• Know Your Class Members: Billy J. Dumas - Billie, AKA Billie Jo or B.J., has been a member fo the Lanier class for six years and a member of Champion Forest Baptist Church since 1987 when she and her family moved to Houston from San Francisco. She is a native of Louisiana and is a graduate of LA Tech University in Ruston where she was a cheerleader all four years. She majored in Education and enjoyed a long career as an elementary school teacher in Louisiana, California and Texas.

• Know Your Class Members: Michelle and Steve Taylor – Michelle and Steve have been members of the Lanier Class for 4 1/2 years and Steve serves as our Class Coordinator. They were both born and raised in the same hometown of Jacksonville, FL, but never knew one another. They each trusted Christ as Savior the summer before leaving for college, and grew in their faith while at college through involvement in church and campus ministries. Steve graduated from Georgia Tech and went to work as a petroleum engineer in New Orleans. They met while attending the same church in New Orleans, where a mutual friend introduced them after learning they were both from the same hometown!

• Know Your Class Members: Andrea and Dwight Kadar – Andrea and Dwight have been happily married for almost five years and members of CFBC for more than nine years. Dwight retired two years ago as Director of Investments for Cooper Industries, Ltd. Andrea retired three years ago as VP of Professional Medical Insurance Services, Inc. Steve Kadar, Dwight’s son and Andrea’s stepson, is 25 and works for State Street Bank in Boston.

• New Study Series and a New Location! - The year 2008 brings our Biblical Literacy Class into a new course of study and a larger location. We hope all our class members have found us in our new location in the Family Life Worship Center. Mark is beginning a fascinating new study of the life and teachings of the Apostle Paul, which promises to deepen our knowledge and understanding of the New Testament.

• Know Your Class Members: Linda and Mike Hudgins - Linda and Mike visited Champion Forest Baptist Church 24 years ago. After visiting one time, they joined the choir Wednesday night and the church the following Sunday. They were active in the music ministry until the Biblical Literacy class formed and they felt called to serve with Mark and Louis.
